Iiro Näkki started his training at the age of five in Vantaa Dance Institute, southern Finland, and went through a list of dance- circus- and sports schools before auditioning to the Theater Academy, Helsinki, in 2010. He is nowadays working professionally in Finland and abroad in the fields of dance and circus arts.
As a performer Iiro has toured across Scandinavia and central Europe. He has worked with various choreographers and companies such as Dance Theater Hurjaruuth, Jozef Frucek, Linda Kapetanea, Jarkko Mandelin and Mirva Mäkinen.
As a teacher, in recent years he has been employed for instance in Turku University of Applied Sciences, Salpaus circus artist education program, Tanssivintti dance school and Circus Helsinki Association. His tools and exercises have been borrowed from many different disciplines; couple exercises for reactions and awareness from boxing, strengthening exercises from parkour, movement material with elements of contemporary dance and different acrobatic approaches.
As of now his works have been presented in Finland, Belgium and Spain.
